Collectibles from my Friends (Part 2)

Most of my collections were coming from my friends. Actually I bought it from them. Most of the items that I have bought were foreign moneys. My friends told me to collect more on Philippine Money, but I told myself that it's kinda boring to collect local money because not every year the Central Bank will declare new designs of banknotes. And I got interested collecting foreign moneys. One of my family members work abroad. it is also an advantage to ask from them some money from different countries they have landed. But sometimes I am not contented. So I surf the internet looking for banknote dealers whose selling Thailand Baht and then I  found these:

I was inspired to collect Banknotes from Thailand because I like their culture (but some). Thailand was called as the "Land of Smiles". 

Last summer, I wasn't expecting that someone gave me Banknotes. My mom's closest friend who work in Indonesia went to our house to give me the banknotes. I said to myself how did my mom's friend knew about my collection, ans it was mom told her friend about my money collection. I was mesmerized when my mom's friend handed me banknotes from Indonesia,  and a banknote from Singapore.

I was looking for Queen Elizabeth II banknotes for sale in the internet but unluckily it's kinda pricey. But not only those fancy notes. I was also looking for a set of South Korean Wons but luckily I only found 1 denomination of Banknote of South Kor, the lowest denomination. I bought it from my friend in Manila. Supposedly I was buying his Plastic Sleeve for banknotes , and as a sideline, he was selling some of his collection and I bought the 1000 Korean Won.

Collectibles from my Friends (part 1)

Yesterday I went to the Post office to pick up and item from my friend in Manila who sells stamps for lot. I brought my ID with me as the Postmaster requires. Sometimes I don't like their Postmaster in our Post office, because few weeks ago I asked for new released stamps, and he won't give me what I asked. And I think to myself "Does buying stamps from the post office requires age limit?". Of course I am part of this generation's collectors and, he won't give me stamps for my collection. Well, I didn't force him but I left. So, let's go back to the topic. A friend of mine sells bunch of stamps. He has an online store where you can choose various items like stamps, coins, and banknotes. I chose to buy his stamps, for lot. I sent him message of inquiry last week. We had a smooth deal. But I didn't expect to receive the items week after the transaction (grr!). But no worries I still got the right items, plus, he gave me extra stamps and a couple of Foreign Banknotes! They are right, my other friends bought something from him and he also give them extra item as a gift. I was very thankful for him. 

The stamp collection was sold by lot. I bought these for only P100.oo excluding the Shipping Fee.

I wasn't expecting that my friend included Queen Elizabeth II Stamps! I was really surprised. It also include stamps from different lands of Europe. I already compiled this in my stamp album.

I also received stamps coming from the Land of the Rising Sun, Japan! I was looking at the stamps with the word "Nippon", then I said "Oh yes, Japan!". It's kinda small but I appreciate its rarity, story, and value. I already compiled this in my stamp album while others are still on my side ready for compilation.

The Queen's Portrait on Banknotes

I'm kinda obsessed in collecting banknotes. Well, I really wanna go and tour around the beautiful land of Great Britain or England or United Kingdom. This country really rocks because there's a monarch, a Queen, ruling the country. I have relatives who are working in UK and that inspires me longing to visit UK, particularly in London. Oh, and London, was such a beautiful place. Even though I haven't gone to London I can still imagine its place and the important landmarks like the Big Ben, London Bridge, Stonehenge, etc. I like the Queen. It seems she is my Old Granny who rules. And I noticed Her Majestic Portrait in banknotes as an obverse. Because of that I'm longing to collect those Banknotes with the Queen's Portrait. Queen Elizabeth II really is my inspiration (not to become a Queen someday but she really live for many years)

While I studied World History, UK has been a great country. It has many lands owned as a territory. But , I think each territories has its different banknote designs with Her Majesty's Portrait, but only some. My father had Pound Sterling but he converted it to Philippine Peso (argghh!).  It would be thankful that someone will give my these banknotes for my collection. I promise not to spend it but to keep it safe.

I have 2 Queen Elizabeth II Banknotes , 20 Canadian Dollars and 5 Australian Dollars. I also have Coin collection with the Queen's head. I asked my friends if they kept money like this. They don't have but their parents do, but it's a shame for me to ask them. I posted an advertisement "Looking for QEII banknotes" in a Group where all collectors gathered, there's one sent me a private message of inquiry. He collected Queen Elizabeth II banknotes during his young years. I asked for the price, but, it's a jaw-dropping price. I didn't continue to ask but only I said to try next time. 

Lantern made out of Plastic

While I'm browsing my FB account, I saw this image from a fan page. It seems the creator of this thing really show his creativity and teaches us that to use those materials which can be use again even though we do not need those things. That's what I called 'Recycling'.

This elegant thing can be used with light. There's no need for me to write the procedures to make one of this. Try to look at the picture and examine why it was made. When you done making one, just put the light bulb into it and make it glow like a lantern, oh that's the term. You can use this when there will be occasions happening in your place. You can only buy paint spray if you wanna change the color for your the lantern. Instead of buying those pricey  light balloons or lanterns try to make like this. It doesn't cost you much. And, while making one, you already helped to save Mother Earth. Even though this lantern is made of plastic, try to appreciate its value. Help the children in your places to recycle. Maybe they can make investments out of these. 

My Collection part 2 (Banknotes)

According to the Wikipedia, Notaphily is the study and collection of paper currency, and banknotes. A notaphilist is a collector of banknotes, paper money, or plastic notes.
Banknotes were made for expenses. Banknotes or paper bills were first invented in China long time ago, and it was use all over the world. Many people around the world are collecting banknotes for some  reason. Others want to invest and others want to preserve. Here I have many banknotes collecting all over the world. I bought these in the city. There are many banknote vendors scattered in the Oldest street in Cebu, Colon Street. 

I've heard this banknote auctions but these vendors are different from them. They don't have a banknote store, they are just these people who repair watches and as a sideline they buy and sell banknotes, coins and old watches. They also sell it at an affordable price depending on its rarity or value. I met a woman who sell banknotes and coins at the side of a Retail Store. She has a bunch of banknotes and coins. I bought many of her collection. Mostly she collected foreign notes because she said her suppliers were foreigners (very 'sosyal'). She price the banknotes for 20-50 PhP each depending on its value and rarity. Sometimes it's pricey when I chose those banknotes that looks like uncirculated (UNC) but it is not in circulation anymore.

My Collection part 1

Hi! I'll share to you my coin collection. Just this picture. I started collecting Philippine Coins. I started collecting coins when my grandma has this antique jar containing old coins. I ask coins from her and she gave it. It's old but cool! I wanna remove the dirt but experts said if you collect coins do not remove the dirt from it because it may create scratches.  I compiled my coins in a Coin Album. I was looking for it in our city. I called many stores but only one has. I mostly like  to collect from the foreign countries. Now I have coins from France, US, UK, Saudi Arabia, HK, SG, China, and one coin from Japan. 

But I kinda bored of collecting coins. My coin album is getting heavier and heavier. But It doesn't end there I still collect coins when someone gave me or when I saw coins which they do not need anymore. 

I also collect books which featured coins, stamps and banknotes. I have this kind of book that allows readers to get information of the banknotes and coins they collect. I bought this from my friend in Manila. I enjoyed reading the book. I was looking for a book like this in a bookstore but it seems I cannot afford for the price. Even if this book is in 3rd hand ( my friend bought it in a secondhand bookshop), I still keep it.

I was also looking for Stamp Catalogs. I went to many bookstores but only one store has. I was looking for a foreign stamp catalogs but they only have local, and still the only issue available. This catalog is all about the history of the Philippine Stamps. 

Ohhh! I grab that last copy immediately before someone will get it. I didn't expect for it. I thought that there will be no more issue for it. 

I also bought this expensive stamp album. I bought for the good of my stamp collection. But speaking of expensive, i have read an article about collecting stamps that we should limit ourselves. We should discipline ourselves from buying expensive things for the stamp. But, this will be my first and the last time to buy and expensive one. This album is way cool. 

Its pages were made out of PVC free plastic. The pages has different sizes for the stamps. I also collect stamps from different countries, but I mostly like to collect from the Philippines. Here is my stamp collection from the foreign countries. 

I only took picture from a page but if you like to see more you can ask me. There are lots of things I want to share but I'll make time to blog it. 

My Journey to Stamp Collecting

Last Summer 2012 I started collecting bits like stamps and coins. Before I didn't really care when I saw these things.  What inspires me to collect? Simple. I watched TV every 12PM and I saw this Cultural channel named "Tipong Pinoy" they featured an episode about preserving history and culture. They went to the National Museum of the Philippines and featured different antique stuffs. And they uttered that it's not only in the museum where you can keep the history, but you can keep it by yourself by collecting antiques like stamps, old coins, and old banknotes. And I remember my childhood days my Grandma (the mother of my mom) has had these stamp album, an antique one.

 She used to keep it. As I talked to her about stamps, she can relate easily. Then I ask her for the album if she can give it to me. She gave the album to me as her remembrance. When i opened the album, I can see handfuls of stamps! There I can see my favorite one, the Folk Dance stamps and the Native Instruments. 

  My grandma said to continue what she started, to collect stamps. My journey of collecting has began. I ask  my grandma if she has old envelop with stamps. She gave me bunch of envelopes. She also gave me advises on how to separate stamps from the envelop. That was fascinating enough. 

 I asked the siblings of my grandma for stamps. They gave me bunch of stamps! i was very happy for that day. I bought myself stamp albums (see the first pic, the red album)And I also bought ans expensive one from a bookstore.

Now I continue this journey to collect more, but, Stamps really make me hard-to-get sometimes. I tried to ask my classmates if they have, but most of them do not have it anymore for they junk it into the dirt. I hope that someone well give me stamps from the different countries, it would be my pleasure to thank you :). But i didnt loose hope, I tried to collect Banknotes. My mom gave me her collection. She had these when her friends gave her money for souvenir.  Well. keep posted guys! there are more articles to follow.
